Annuril Tri Hutami: a Cikgu Volunteer in VTIC – Cycle 6
Volunteerism Teaching Indonesian Children Foundation (VTC Foundation) is a non-profit organization that works in education and humanity. It was legally formed on December 8th, 2014. Every year, VTIC Foundation recruits Indonesian students to be volunteers to teach children of Indonesian migrant workers. VTIC Cycle is the main program of VTIC Foundation. This program is a voluntary program that allows the participants teach the children of Indonesian workers in Sarawak Malaysia without getting paid. This program is the realization of Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi: to educate students in a working field for a month.
Annuril Tri Hutami (English Language Education Study Program 2017) has been elected to be the representative of Universitas Brawijaya as a Cikgu Volunteer in VTIC Foundation Program – Cycle 6 in Malaysia. It was started when she tried to find out the information from her seniors in EM UB, she then encouraged herself to sign herself in. She had passed three levels of selection: (1) administration selection and essay writing, (2) micro teaching selection in Panjaitan School, and (3) interview. After those selections, Annuril was allowed to teach based on her own teaching innovation.
“Initially, I was not sure I could pass, because most rivals were senior students and I was the only freshman,” said one of this AEELS 2017 member. This is like a special challenge for her. Therefore, she wanted to prove that a freshman could be one-step ahead. “Because of hard work, prayer, and support from others, I can be elected as Cikgu Volunteer in VTIC FOUNDATION in Malaysia,” she continued. We hope that this activity can be beneficial and inspire us. [PS.PBIng/Ikrima/DT/MSH/PSIK FIB]
