Guest Lecture of Linguistics Research by Prof. Dr. Gunadi Harry Sulistyo, M.A
On Saturday (05/12/2018), the Master Program of Linguistics Faculty of Cultural Studies (FCS) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) held a guest lecture, which invited Prof. Dr. Gunadi Harry Sulistyo, M.A as the speaker. The guest lecture entitled “Quantitative Linguistic Research Methods” and was held in the building A Auditorium of FCS-UB from 13.00 WIB until 17.00 WIB.
Participants from this guest lecture were Magister Linguistics students and undergraduate students of English Literature who were currently taking the Research Proposal Writing course. As a lecturer of the course, Hamamah, M.Pd., Ph.D. hoped that this guest lecture would be beneficial for all participants and make all the students enlightened about how to do good research.
The guest lecture was divided into two sessions, the first session discussed quantitative research and the second session discussed qualitative research. As language researchers, we should always be sensitive of change and be able to make progress. To be a researcher, someone must also see a phenomenon fundamentally. Prof. Dr. Gunadi Harry Sulistyo, M.A. also explained the difference between thesis and undergraduate thesis to all participants, in order to make the students distinguish the portion of their research and will be able to do research in their each respective area.
The second session was filled with questions from the participants. It was ended with a photo session with all the committee.
With the implementation of this guest lecture, it is expected to bring benefits and make many young researchers in the field of language from the Faculty of Cultural Studies. (Ikrima/DT/MSH/PSIK FIB)
