Internship Visitation of French Language and Literature Study Program at IFI Surabaya
On Thursday (19/07/2018), one of the Field Supervisors (DPL), Madame Lusia Neti Harwati, M.Ed. visited French Language and Literature Study Program’s Faculty of Cultural Studies (FCS) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) students who were conducting internship program at Institut Français d’Indonesie (IFI) Surabaya. The DPL met Monsieur Eri Susanto as the person in charge and the three internship students; they are Fina Alifia, Clara Shinta and Clara Tiara (students of batch 2015).
Monsieur Eri Susanto explained technical and internship schedule and their job description of the internship students. The period of the internship in IFI Surabaya is two months, from 25th of June until 25th of August. The workdays are Monday up to Friday, and the work hour starts at 7 a.m. until 5 p.m.
The job description for the first week was classroom observation in elementary and junior high school course. There were also some other jobs such as Public Relation to contact and provide information to schools and other institutions related to the course, DELF/DALF test and some French events. Second, substituting Monsieur Eri if he is unable to attend or participate in IFI event as LO (Liaison Officer). Third, traduction or translating IFI website into French and the last is arranging the découpage of a textbook; categorize the subject according to its field such as pragmatic, linguistic and socio-cultural.
“We are glad that we learn new experiences. I also had opportunity to accompany one of native speakers for a couple of days. It helped me to learn to communicate with French native speaker,” said Clara Tiara as the team coordinator.
The internship students at IFI Surabaya practiced speaking French because in IFI office everyone communicates in French. They can also develop their relations with other institution as well as people cooperating with IFI Surabaya in certain events or projects. (Binda/DT/MSH/PSIK FIB)
