Mario Supandhi Won Gold Medal at International Research Innovation, Invention, & Solution Exposition (IRIISE) 2018
At the University of Malaya, Malaysia, one of the students of English Language Education Study Program Faculty of Cultural Studies (FIB) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) obtained a gold medal in the 2018 International Research Innovation, Invention, & Solution Exposition (IRIISE) at 14 – August 16, 2018. Moh. Mario Alvin Supandhi (English Language Education Study Program 2017) represents UB with his teammates from the Faculty of Computer Sciences (FILKOM), Faculty of Engineering (FT), Medical Faculty (FK), and Faculty of Animal Husbandry (FAPET).
“My motivation in joining this activity was to introduce new technology-based products that my team made. I am assigned to be a presenter to explain the product,” explained Mario. The product is called SENSOR, which is Smart Energy from Milk Sortation. “SENSOR is a sorting milk modifier when milk does not meet the standard of a factory. It is then converted into electrical energy developed with IoT technology and android-based applications,” Mario said.
The idea of making SENSOR began with the lack of electricity availability in Indonesia, especially in Bandialit Village, Jember, East Java. This area has abundant sorting milk. Based on previous research, Mario and his colleagues have the idea to develop the sorted milk electrical energy. In participating in this activity, Mario encountered several obstacles. “There are so many scientific terms that are difficult to understand,” he said.
In the future, Mario has a lot of hope “Only if UB provide supporting fund, we will make the real product because all we made is just a prototype,” Mario explained. (AG/PSPBIng/CT/MSH/PSIK FIB)
