FCS UB Accepted Seven Foreign Students in Darmasiswa RI Program Batch 2018/2019
Faculty of Cultural Studies (FCS) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) accepted seven foreign students of Darmasiswa RI Program batch 2018/2019. The opening ceremony was held on Monday (3/9/2018) in the Auditorium on the 2nd floor of Building A FCS UB and started at 10 a.m. The event was opened by Agus Gozali, S.Pd., M.Ling as the master of ceremony, followed by welcoming speech by Vice Dean of Administration and Finance, Dr. Esti Junining, M.Pd.
In her speech, she expressed her gratitude and pride that FCS UB was trusted for the second time to hold Darmasiswa RI Program. “We are very happy to have you all here. Let us learn Indonesian culture, especially Malang as a beautiful city where you can learn lots about the language, art, and culture. I do hope that you will study at ease here,” said Dr. Esti Junining, M.Pd.
The Head of Language and Literature Department, Sahiruddin, M.A., Ph.D. continued the event with the Introduction to Campus Life. Then the Director of International Office (IO) UB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ifar Subagiyo, M.Agr. St., presented about IO UB’s function. Followed by Fadli Robbianto Basuki, SE, Staff of IO UB explained about immigration services.
Those foreign students of Darmasiswa RI Pragram batch 2018/2019 are Raj Nandita from India, Solohery Mampionona Aime Randrianantenaina from Madagascar, Maria Galkina from Russia, Byungju Shim from South Korea, Emmanuel Michael Massay from Tanzania, Ho Anh Nguyet and Tran Huu Nguyet Cam from Vietnam.
Darmasiswa RI Program is an annual grant provided by the Ministry of Education and Culture of Indonesia for foreign students from countries that establish diplomatic relations with Indonesia to learn language, art, and culture of Indonesia. The students of Darmasiswa RI Program are placed in several universities in Indonesia.
Language Division, Laboratory of Humanities FCS UB gets the honor of organizing Darmasiswa RI Program for academic year 2018/2019. In addition to Indonesian Language lessons for Foreign Speakers, Darmasiswa RI program UB is also designed to introduce Indonesian culture, by learning batik production, visiting temples, learning Indonesian traditional dance and Javanese Gamelan.
