An Alumnus of French Literature Study Program FCS UB Published a Book
A diary, which is a record of everyday events, serves as a store of memories. A diary is also beneficial as a medium to express feelings. Starting from her desire for writing a diary, Oky Mustika Sari, an alumnus of Batch 2010 French Language and Literature Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Studies (FCS) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) successfully published a book entitled Diary la Sorbonne published by Bhuana Ilmu Populer (BIP) in 2018.
Diary la Sorbonne tells about the experience of Oky’s first year in postgraduate degree in France, at Université Paris Sorbonnne IV. Through the book, she wants to share stories with readers through her writing.
Oky was very satisfied with the publication of the book. She said, “From the reviews on Goodreads and Instagram, Alhamdulillah, the readers’ responses are good.” Through the book, Oky hopes that the readers who have dreams to study abroad to always be enthusiastic.
Oky’s husband is the most helpful person in writing the book. In addition to moral support, her husband was willing to be a photographer for the pictures in her book. Beside her husband, illustrators also played an important role because they illustrated Oky’s wishes in visual form.
According to Oky, she never felt the difficulty in writing the book because she enjoyed it very much. However, Oky needed some time to collect photos because she had to travel around Paris. “During the process of writing the book, I was very happy, because I could write things that I am interested in,” she said.
For FCS UB students, Diary la Sorbonne can be enjoyed without having to buy it, because this book is available at the Self Access Center (SAC). Oky has extended the book to SAC through Siti Khusnul Khotimah, M.A. (a lecturer of the French Language and Literature Study Program). This book is one of the contributions of Oky as an alumnus.
Good luck, Oky, we hope that your story inspires many people.
