A Debriefing and Releasing of Graduates of FCS UB – Periode 5 (2018-2019)
On Friday (11/23/2018), A Release and Debriefing Event of the Graduates Period 5 Academic Year 2018-2019, was held in the Auditorium of the building A Faculty of Cultural Studies (FCS) Universitas Brawijaya (UB). The event began at 8 a.m. and started with Indonesia Raya sung by all graduates after Dean and Vice Deans of FCS UB, Heads of the Departments, and Heads of Study Programs entered the room.
Hamamah, M.Pd, Ph.D, Vice Dean of Students Affairs delivered the academic report of FCS UB. She mentioned the names of the graduates of each study program and their predicate. The number of FCS UB graduates for period 5 was 40 people, with the average graduation predicates mentioned were Cumlaude and Very Satisfactory.
After the briefing of the Dean, it was continued with the announcement and handover of the certificate to the best graduates students that achieved by Lelyta Septi Pratiwi from Japanese Literature Study Program with GPA 3,72 and Dra. Elisabeth Worobroto Purwaningrum from Magister Linguistics Study Program with GPA 3,94.
Next procession was collaring the Gordon by the Heads of the Study Programs started from English Literature Study Program, Japanese Literature Study Program, French Language and Literature Study Program, English Language Education Study Program, Japanese Language Education Study Program, Indonesian Language and Literature Study Program, Fine Arts Study Program, and the last was Magister Linguistics Study Program. The graduates were called one by one while being collared by their Heads of the Study Programs.
Afters collaring the Gordon, the next event was the speech about the impression during college in FCS UB represented by the best graduates, Lelyta Septi Pratiwi. The event was closed with a prayer, lead by Achmad Ruslan S.P. Then the leaders of FCS UB left the room. After that, the graduates got a briefing due to the university graduation techniques.
The event was ended with a briefing for the fresh graduates which was given by Adityo, M.A. He was a graduate of batch 2004 from English Literature Study Program FCS UB, and continued his Magister study in Applied Linguistics for Language Teaching, Kingston University London, United Kingdom. He is now active as a lecturer in English Language Education Department, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang.
The event was continued with a briefing by the Dean of FCS UB, Prof. Dr. Agus Suman, SE., DEA. He delivered several messages to the graduates, the first was to always maintain the good reputation of the institution, FCS UB, because we ourselves are the members of FCS UB who are obliged to do this; the second was to immediately join the IKA because through IKA, the institution (especially FCS UB) will get input about shortcomings so that we will be better in the future; and the third was to introduce UB to the wider community.
In his presentation, Adityo described about the how the graduates will face the new world, one of them is looking for a job, and explained about what must be prepared in achieving the desired job, and also suggested that graduates must be able to understand themselves, focus on building a career, intend to go forward, and think about learning. Adityo also explained about how to write a good and interesting CV, as well as tips on job interview tests for the intended institution. “I don’t know what tomorrow holds, how exciting”, he said when closing his presentation.
