Towards International Standards Through ICEL
The International Conference on Advances in Education, Humanities and Languages (ICEL) organized by the Department of Language Education, Faculty of Cultural Studies (FCS) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) was officially opened by Prof. DR. drh. Aulanni’am, DES as Vice Rector I of UB on Saturday (3/23/2019). In a speech delivered in front of 160 speakers and 270 participants from various countries, the Vice Rector I of UB said, “International events like this are in order to advance and improve their respective knowledge “.
Beating Gong at the Opening of ICEL by Prof. DR. drh. Aulanni’am, DES (WR I UB) accompanied by Prof. Dr. Agus Suman, SE., DEA. (Dean of FCS UB), Dr. Ive Emaliana, M.Pd (Chief Executive of ICEL), and Dr. Sony Sukmawan, M.Pd. (Head of Language Education Department of FCS UB)
Tari Topeng Patih (Patih Masked Dance) performed by four (4) dancers from Asmoro Bangun and FCS UB choir performance, Voice E-Lite, which sung Indonesian Pusaka and Paris Barantai songs were also presented at the opening ceremony of ICEL.
The event which took place on March 23-24, 2019 at Aria Gajayana Hotel was scheduled to discuss issues related to cultural preservation, humanities studies, and language teaching and learning studies. For this reason, six (6) keynote speakers from Indonesia, the United States, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia and Taiwan were present and shared insights regarding these issues. “One of our speakers is a cultural expert from the United States. She came here specifically to convey her ideas”, explained Dr. Ive Emaliana, M.Pd as chief executive of ICEL.
All speakers and participants including from Russia, Madagscar and South Korea shared insights and discoveries in their respective fields of science through several parallel discussion sessions for two days. Dr. Ive Emaliana, M.Pd stated, “We encourage critical thinking in the fields of education, humanities, and languages in the era of industrial revolution 4.0″. One hundred (100) best articles from the results of a critical discussion at this event will be published in the scopus indexed proceeding as one of the benchmarks for the quality of ideas.
