On October 2, 2018, the Faculty of Cultural Studies (FCS) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) held one part of event series to celebrate the Ninth Anniversary of FCS UB, named Anugrah Sabda Budaya Brawijaya, Cultural Oration, and Arts Performance. Series after series was held with the theme “Strengthening Cultural Identity in the Millennium Era”. It was expected, with this celebration, FCS UB could present such true and real role for education and for other people, particularly in language, literature, and art field.
Located at UB TV studio, this event consisted of Anugerah Sabda Budaya Brawijaya that was supposed to appreciate the literary and cultural arts activists who have shown their dedication and creative works and have such influence in preserving art, literature and culture in a sustainable period. Anugerah Sabda Budaya FCS UB were handed over to a litterateur, Wina Bojonegoro, and an artist of the late Ki Sumantri.
In addition, there was also a cultural oration delivered by Radhar Panca Dahana, which was intended to explore and respond to various phenomena and issues as well as current thinking in the field of culture. Moreover, as well as the most important element in this event, Ludruk performance was also be present to entertain the guests at the end of the event. This performance was supposed to be an appreciation to the artists and art groups who have worked in the traditional arts in the midst of global situations and millennial culture. Ludruk was performed by Kendo Kenceng Group, with the title ‘Karsinah’.
The series of this anniversary celebration continued until October 7, 2018 where there would be a green walk and alumni gathering. We hope that the whole set of this celebration could bring benefits to the entire community as expected by the FCS UB. (Ikrima/DT/MSH/PSIK FIB)
