The Faculty of Cultural Studies (FCS) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) carries out an international accreditation visitation AQAS (Agentur zur Qualitätssicherung an Hochschulen mit Sitz in Köln) which is held for five days from Monday, March 21, 2022 to Friday, March 25, 2022. This visitation is carried out for cluster 1 (Asia) which includes Study Programmes of (1) Japanese Literature, (2) Chinese Literature, (3) Japanese Language Education, and (4) Indonesian Language and Literature.
The opening ceremony was held with university management on the 8th floor of the Rectorate Building on Monday (3/21/2022). The event starts at 2 p.m. until 7.30 p.m. at Malang Time. The event was held following the Central European Time (CET) where the expert panels were located, which was 08.00 – 13.30 CET via the Zoom Meeting platform.
On the occasion, UB’s Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. Nuhfil Hanani AR., M.S., introduced UB in general, starting from the management, explaining the university’s vision and mission, and conveying some achievements that have been achieved by UB. UB’s Rector also explained the internationalization of UB in all aspects of education, research, programmes, supporting facilities including for disabled students, as well as ranking UB nationally and internationally.
“In the field of education and research, UB has collaborated with several universities in the world, such as Germany, France, Australia, and the United States in the form of inbound and outbound student exchanges, staff exchanges, joint research, joint publications, as well as in the joint double-degree programmes,” he explained.
Expert panels that become the assessors of AQAS FCS UB include (1) Prof. Dr. Junko Majima, Institute for East Asian Studies, Department of Japanese Studies, University of Cologne, (2) Prof. Dr. Harald Meyer, Department of Japanese and Korean Studies, University of Bonn, (3) Prof. Dr. Hans Kühner, Institute for Chinese Studies, Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich, (4) Prof. Dr. Monika Arnez, Department of Asian Studies (Sinofon), Palacky University Olomouc, (5) Dr. Katja Cassing, Cass Publishing Company (Labour Market Representative), (6) Andrea Schüler, Chinese Studies, University of Hamburg (Student Representative), (7) Dr. Melanie Brük, Standing Commission of AQAS, (8) Ayda Alizadeh, Organization Assistant an International Administration of AQAS, and (9) Ronny Heintze, Deputy Director of International Development of AQAS.
FCS UB has prepared for AQAS visitation for two years, starting from 2020. AQAS visitation for Cluster 2 (Europe) for Study Programmes of (1) English Literature, (2) French Language and Literature, (3) English Language Education, and (4) Masters in Linguistics will be held in May 2022.
