Faculty of Cultural Studies (FCS) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) received a visit from Arkalearn Training Center, a training institution engaged in human resource development and international internship distribution, especially in Japan, on Tuesday (5/6/2025). This visit was a follow-up to the request for an audience related to the hospitality internship program in the Hakone and Nagano regions, Japan.
The activity which took place in the 6th Floor Meeting Room of Building A FCS UB, was attended by Henny Wahyuni, Director of Arkalearn; Eko Yuni Mulyanto, Arkalearn representative; Dr. Aji Setyanto, S.S., M.Litt., Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Student Entrepreneurship FCS UB; Santi Andayani, M.A., Head of the Study Program of Japanese Literature; Dr. Sri Aju Indrowaty, M.Pd., Head of the Study Program of Japanese Language Education; Lecturer representatives, and BPPM FCS UB.
In this meeting, Arkalearn explained the details of the cooperation program with PLANDO International, a partner based in Japan, which has opened access to internships in various Japanese hospitality institutions. The program is designed to help Indonesian students, especially those majoring in Japanese, gain professional work experience while directly honing language and cultural skills in Japan.
“We want to bridge FCS UB students who have the interest and ability to study and work in Japan, especially in the field of hospitality,” said Henny Wahyuni in her presentation.
Prof. Dr. Aji Setyanto positively welcomed this cooperation offer. According to him, internship programs like this are very relevant to the needs of students in developing soft skills, international experience, and a strong professional portfolio in the future.
The Japanese Literature and Japanese Language Education Study Programs also expressed their interest and readiness to follow up on the cooperation, including technical discussions on student selection, skills strengthening curriculum, and support from the faculty.
“We hope this cooperation can be an entry point for FCS UB students to be better prepared to compete at the global level, especially in the highly professional and disciplined Japanese hospitality field,” said Santi Andayani.
The visit ended with a light discussion and joint documentation. Both parties agreed to continue further communication regarding the MoU and technical implementation of the internship program, which is planned to begin shortly. [dts/PR FCS]
