Six artworks owned by laboratory staff and students of the Study Programme of Fine Arts (SPFA), Faculty of Cultural Studies (FCS) Universitas Brawijaya (UB), had the opportunity to become participants in the prestigious auction event, SidhARTa Artfordable & Collectible Auction, held at Sidharta Auctioneer & Artphere Gallery, Jakarta on Saturday (11/2/2024).
The event allowed young artists to showcase their work nationally and introduce SPFA FCS UB students to a broader audience.
“This auction is an educational and appreciation activity for young artists. Starting from the process of curating works, viewing works to see the physical condition and bidding process of works at auction and sale results after the auction,” explained Happy Wahyu Firdaus, staff of the Humanities Laboratory of FCS UB.
Aside from Happy, three SPFA FCS UB students — Ananda Putri from batch 20, Hikmatiar David from batch 19, and Thariq Ramadhan from batch 21 — also participated in the auction. Their participation is part of Mini Art Malang and SPFA FCS UB’s efforts to support and encourage the development of creativity and careers of students and staff in fine arts.

Moreover, involvement in a significant event like SidhARTa Artfordable & Collectible Auction also allows young UB artists to network with art collectors, galleries, and fellow professional artists, which is invaluable for their future career development.
The auction, which took place at Artphere Gallery, is a platform for young and talented artists in Indonesia to showcase affordable yet collectible works of art.
