Dean of FCS UB, Hamamah, Ph.D.and Dean of FCS UNTAG, Mateus Rudi Supsiadji, Ph.D.
The Faculty of Cultural Studies (FCS) Universitas 17 Agustus 1945 (UNTAG) visited FCS Universitas Brawijaya (UB) to discuss the cooperation between faculties, especially for the Study Programme of English Literature (SPEL). One of the planned programme is the Independent Student Exchange Programme as a fulfillment of the demands of the Freedom to Learn – Independent Campus (MBKM) Programme. This visit was held in the Meeting Room of the FCS A Building on the 6th floor at 9 a.m. on Friday (8/12/2022).
The event began with an opening and remarks by Hamamah, Ph.D., as the Dean of FCS UB, followed by remarks by Mateus Rudi Supsiadji, Ph.D., as the Dean of FCS UNTAG. Then it was continued with the process of handing over souvenirs and a group photo session.
“In the current era, we are required to achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPI/IKU), MBKM, and many other things. We cannot do it alone, we need collaboration so that each of us can achieve it all,” said Hamamah, Ph.D.
“Hopefully today’s discussion will bring understanding on points that are carried out together with various student and teaching exchange activities, the possibility of international conferences potential, each publication to enrich journal writers,” she continued.
The next event was the SPEL’s profile video playback. Followed by an overview presentation of FCS UB which consisted of vision, mission, graduate profile, Outcome Base Education (OBE) Curriculum, international class programme, lecturer, and student activities.
Discussion on Cooperation between FCS UB and FCS UNTAG
Discussion on Implementation Arrangement (IA) included student exchanges and graduate conferences. In the discussion of IA I, several things become the topic of discussion. Student Exchange will be held from the even semester of 2023. Each party sends students to participate in student exchange activities. The quota of students for student exchanges is agreed to be set in numbers, not percentages.
In addition, the Creative Writing course is carried out inside the SPEL, but the practice is outside. For the cooperation programme, curriculum mapping is carried out to see the suitability of the courses. The number of credits that can be taken at the destination campus is a maximum of 20 credits. Learning activities are carried out at each campus. A total of 16 meetings, with a minimum of 1-2 offline meetings.
In IA II, it was discussed facilitating the presentation and publication of scientific works by lecturers and students. This is to achieve IKU outside the campus. There are tasks and powers distribution. Each party is responsible for conferences and seminars, sending reviewers to each other, exchanging courses, and visiting lecturers.
“The expansion of cooperation is not only for student exchanges and graduation conferences. I hope, we can also work together in the publication of scientific papers and exchange reviewers. Hopefully, in the future, it can be implemented because we are not competing but collaborating,” said Mateus Rudi Supsiadji, Ph.D.
At the end of the event, the minutes of the conference activities were signed. The event was closed by Nanang Endrayanto, M.Sc. as Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of FCS UB.
“We have a common vision through this collaboration. We are ready to follow up and hopefully, UNTAG is ready to follow up as well. Hopefully, we can still collaborate, because FCS UB is still young and has a lot to learn from FCS UNTAG,” he said. [ak/dts/tri/PR FCS]
