A student of the Study Programme of Japanese Literature, Faculty of Cultural Studies (FCS) Universitas Brawijaya (UB), Alandra Anas Athallah, became the second runner-up in the international online dance competition, J-Pop Cover Dance Competition, Fumi Dansu announced on Tuesday (3/1/2022). This dance competition was held online by Sanxithe of Singapore from 20 December 2021 to 20 February 2022.

“This competition was attended by nine participants from six countries, namely Germany, Singapore, Finland, Malaysia, Singapore, and I represented from Indonesia,” said Alandra.

The competition took the theme 踏み出す(fumidasu) which means ‘Step Forward’. In the competition, Alandra and other participants made and uploaded a J-Pop dance cover with a duration of six minutes, which was then judged by four experienced judges from Singapore, namely: Sanxithe, Suzume, Jesmond, and Joysu.

In the judging process, there are three main categories, namely dance moves, level of difficulty, concepts, and creativity. Through a long process, Alandra who at that time represented FCS UB through UKM FOCS Dance Crew with his dance cover entitled ‘Polygon Wave’, won 3rd place with 46 points out of a maximum of 60.

In addition, Alandra also became the runner-up in the National J-Pop Dance Cover Bunkasai 4 dance competition held by the Politeknik Negeri Padang. [grs/dts/msh/PR FCS]
