A student of the Study Program of Chinese Literature, Faculty of Cultural Studies (FCS) Universitas Brawijaya (UB), Nila Maulida, held a Book Review on her novel entitled Good(bye) Resember (Remember to December) as her final project. This event was held on Saturday (4/3/2021) from 9 to 11 o’clock in the Multimedia Room of Diponegoro High School, Tumpang, Malang.

The novel Good(bye) Resember (Remember to December) has an implicit meaning about feminism. Nila wants to show that women from any background are capable of achieving their goals and dreams.

Many women are required to follow the tradition or paradigm of society. The negative stigmas against women always occur. When women have higher careers and dreams than men, they will be ridiculed as women who are not feminine or do not respect the rights of men who are predicted to be leaders.

“I want to motivate readers to achieve their desires, and to be equal to what men do,” said Nila.

Nila took 30 days to compose this novel. She printed the manuscript in A4 size. Then, she sent it to several publishers and had experienced several rejections. Finally, one of the major publishers in Indonesia, ANDI Yogyakarta, was willing to accept Nila’s work, but the selection process was also quite long, which was about six months.

After the selection process was completed, Nila and the publisher signed the MoU for royalties. She still had to wait another six months for the novel to be printed and marketed in bookstores, including Gramedia and Togamas, as well as the online stores such as Lazada, Shoppee, Tokopedia, Blibli, and others.
