Jajaki Kerja Sama Magang dan Pelatihan Animasi, Inspidea Malaysia Kunjungi FIB UB

The Faculty of Cultural Studies (FCS) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) received a visit from Inspidea, a 2D animation industry company from Malaysia, to explore cooperation between education and creative industries on Monday (5/5/2025). The meeting took place in the 6th Floor Meeting Room of Building A FCS UB and was attended by faculty leaders, study program managers, and the International Relations Office (IRO) team of FCS UB.

The Inspidea delegation was led by Andrew Ooi, Co-Founder and Managing Director, accompanied by Marcellinus Dimas Prabowo, Senior Animator. This visit was an initial moment to build sustainable collaboration, especially in the field of student internships and lecturer training in the world of professional animation.

In his remarks, the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of FCS UB, Sahiruddin, Ph.D., welcomed the visit and expressed hope for the potential cooperation to be built.

“We are pleased to welcome you. It is an honor because Inspidea chose FCS UB as a discussion partner. We hope this conversation can open up internship opportunities and short training for students and educators,” said Sahiruddin.

This discussion is in line with FCS UB’s vision to bridge the academic world with the global creative industry’s needs, especially in fine arts and 2D animation.

In their presentation, Inspidea representatives expressed their interest in the talents of Indonesian students, including those from FCS UB, and said that animation requires cross-disciplinary expertise.

“In the world of animation, not only are visual design skills needed. Linguistic skills, historical understanding, and strong narrative are also important aspects in creating interesting and globally competitive works,” said Andrew Ooi.

Inspidea opened the possibility of 3-4 weeks of internships and lecturer training in Malaysia and their Jakarta branch as the first step of cooperation. They also expressed interest in collaborating on curriculum development relevant to current industry needs.

FCS UB hopes this visit will be the starting point for more concrete cooperation and pave the way for alums and students to enter the professional animation industry. On the other hand, this cooperation is expected to help improve the quality of fine arts education through technology transfer, industrial experience, and international training.

This meeting is also an initial discussion space to strengthen the Creative Industry ecosystem on campus through synergy between higher education and regional creative industry players. [dts/PR FCS]
