Faculty of Cultural Studies (FCS) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) received an honorary visit from Dr. Jamila Mohd, an academic from the Faculty of Languages and Linguistics, Universiti Malaya, on Friday (11/15/2024). This activity took place in the 6th Floor Meeting Room, Building A FCS UB, and was attended by some leaders and teaching staff of FCS UB.
In his remarks, the Vice Dean for General Affairs, Finance, and Resources of FCS UB, Nanang Endrayanto, M.Sc., expressed his gratitude for Dr. Jamila’s presence. He also emphasized the importance of synergy between the two institutions.
“Thank you, and welcome to Dr. Jamila from Universiti Malaya. We have collaborated with Universiti Malaya several times, especially in the English Literature Study Program and the Fine Arts Study Program. Thank you for Dr. Jamila’s willingness to support the Japanese Literature Study Program this time,“ said Nanang.
He also introduced the 3 in 1 flagship program that combines the collaboration of local academics, international academics, and practitioners.
“We hope this activity provides a lot of experience for our students. Hopefully, this cooperation will continue so we can work together again in the future,“ he added.
Meanwhile, Dr. Jamila expressed her appreciation for the warm welcome from FCS UB.
“I want to say thank you. I appreciate the welcome and the time that has been taken for this meeting. I am happy to be able to come here and hope that this cooperation is sustainable so that we can collaborate in various activities in the future,“ she said.
Dr. Jamila also emphasized the importance of cross-institutional cooperation in enriching learning and research.
“Networking like this is expected to facilitate each other in making learning more advanced than working individually. I also see opportunities for cooperation in the field of research between the Faculty of Language and Linguistics of Universiti Malaya and FCS UB,“ she said.
During this visit, Dr. Jamila had the opportunity to give a guest lecture for students of the Japanese Literature Study Program, which was held on Saturday (11/16/2024). This guest lecture raised the theme “The Thinking Concepts in Japanese Society” and consisted of two sessions. The first session discussed “Keigo with the concept of Uchi-Soto and Jouge-Kankei.” The second session was on “Onomatopoeia with the concept of expressing everything with sounds.” [trans.acl/ed.dts/PR FCS]
