In the middle of the odd semester break, the Faculty of Cultural Studies (FCS) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) received a visit from SMA Negeri 1 Kalianda. The guests came all the way from Lampung and arrived at FCS UB on Thursday (18/1/2024). The visit, attended by 150 students and teachers, began at 09.00 WIB and occupied the area of FCS Building A Lobby.
The visit from SMA Negeri 1 Kalianda had the main purpose of introducing FCS UB to students to open their insights on the study programs, facilities, institutions, and many other things in FCS UB. This introduction will help students determine their steps and choices to continue their education to a higher level.
The lobby of FCS Building A was full of guests from SMA Negeri 1 Kalianda who showed enthusiasm since they entered FCS UB area. This visit was opened by greeting and interactive conversation with students of SMA Negeri 1 Kalianda. Afterwards, the session began with remarks from representatives of SMA Negeri 1 Kalianda who thanked FCS UB for receiving and welcoming them warmly.
“We would like to express our deepest gratitude for receiving us. We visited UB a few years ago. After the visit, four of our students were accepted to study at UB,” said Drs. Minsihmadi, M.Pd., Head of Public Relations of SMA Negeri 1 Kalianda.
“We hope that with our experience, there will be students who are accepted here again by getting to know campus life at UB,” he added.
The next session was the introduction of study programs and facilities of FCS UB as presented by Isti Purwaningtyas, M.Pd., a lecturer of the Study Programme of English Literature. She explained in detail about the study programmes at FCS UB and also introduced the facilities in FCS such as the Self Access Center (SAC).
At the end of the presentation, she said that students wishing to join UB to continue education, need to know FCS UB and the environment better.
“All of you who will continue to college can see how the conditions exist,” she explained.
After the presentation of study programmes, facilities, faculty programs of FCS UB, SMA Negeri 1 Kalianda students had the opportunity to ask questions about things they wanted to know more of FCS and UB. From the question-and-answer session, there were six students from SMA Negeri 1 Kalianda who asked about the scholarship requirements and system, the National Selection of Student Admission for High-Achievers (SNBP) assessment system, native lecturers for foreign language study programmes, student exchange, UB entry requirements, and the learning system of Merdeka Belajar curriculum in FCS UB.
Finally closing the session, there was also a quiz session to determine the level of understanding of students related to the material presented. This aimed to maximize the results of the SMA Negeri 1 Kalianda visit to FCS UB. [trans.adhyaksa/ed.vidya/PR FCS]
