Master of Linguistics FCS UB Invites Professors from No.1 University in Thailand

 

Master of Linguistics Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Studies (FCS) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) presents a senior lecturer and a practitioner in phonetic phonology courses held in the odd semester of the academic year 2019/2020.

This program is part of the 3 in 1 Program held by UB to support and enhance the internationalization program. The 3 in 1 program is a program that presents three lecturers to teach one course: one expert with an international reputation, one practitioner in accordance with their fields and one lecturer from UB. This 3 in 1 program will be ended with a workshop on Saturday – Wednesday (11/16-20/2019).

The chairperson of this activity is Ika Nurhayani, Ph.D., who is the Head of Master of Linguistics Study Program FCS UB and a lecturer in phonetic phonology. The invited expert is Pittayawat Pittayorn, Ph.D, a diachronic phonology lecturer from Chulalongkorn University, Thailand. According to the QS World University Ranking, Chulalongkorn University is the number-one university in Thailand and ranks 45 in Asia.

In addition, this activity also features Ferdinan Kurniawan, Ph.D., a practitioner who presents a lecture on the use of Praat software for phonetic and phonological analysis. Praat software is used to analyze, synthesize and manipulate the acoustic sound of human speech and is widely used for interdisciplinary studies such as computational linguistics, neurolinguistics and psycholinguistics.
