Faculty of Cultural Studies (FCS) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) held a socialization and inauguration as the Internet-based HSK Test Center on Saturday (5/4/2019) at UB TV Studio. Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK) itself is the standardization test by the People’s Republic of China in language proficiency required for foreign students, immigrants from outside China, and members of ethnic minority groups in China.
Rini Irawan, Secretary of BKPBM (Dewan Pelaksana Badan Koordinasi Pendidikan Bahasa Mandarin/Executive Council of the Chinese Language Education Coordinating Board) stated that the participants of HSK will get certificates which can be used in China and business units in various countries that use Mandarin as their language. HSK certificates are also a requirement for prospective students who wish to study in China. Those who want to apply for being university students in China need to achieve HSK between 3rd to 8th levels. Moreover, to get a job in China, it is required to reach the 5th level at least.
Indonesia itself is one of 120 countries that have participated as HSK organizers since 2005. This is the reason of this partnership between UB and BKPBM, especially considering the importance of HSK certificates, as well as how people gain more interest in learning Mandarin. This partnership was also legalized by the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between UB and BKPBM.
Not only attended by Prof. Dr. Ir. Moch Sasmito Djati, M. S. and Chairperson of BKPBM, Arifin Zain, the event was also attended by the Dean of FCS UB, Prof. Dr. Agus Suman, SE., DEA. and the students, especially Chinese Lliterature students. On this occasion, Sasmito Djati and Arifin appreciated FCS UB’s cooperativeness.
Agus Suman stated, “Through this partnership, UB, especially FCS UB as HSK Internet Based Test Center, hopes that we will be able to serve broader community and contribute more for education.” (PS.SCina/NLN/DT/PSIK FIB)
