K3 Training as AQAS Cluster 2 and 3 Preparation FCS UB

K3 Training: Standardization of K3 Management in the Faculty of Cultural Studies (FCS) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) 2022 was held on Thursday (7/28/2022). Located in Hall A FCS UB, this event invited a Senior Consultant, Elien, S.T., as a speaker. The event was attended by the Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Entrepreneurship; Heads of Departments; representatives of units; AQAS committee; and education personnel.

“This is our first K3 Training. Hopefully, it will be useful in welcoming AQAS Cluster 2 and Cluster 3 which will be held offline,” said Ismatul Khasanah, Ph.D., Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Entrepreneurship.

Occupational Health and Safety (K3) must meet the standards and under applicable regulations. As explained by Elien, the umbrella regulation for K3 standards is Law No. 1 of 1970 and PP No. 50 of 2012. Lab Quality Standards must comply with ISO/IEC 17025 2017, while K3 accreditation is carried out by KAN as an audit agency.

K3 is all science and its application to prevent work accidents, occupational diseases (PAK), fires, explosions, and environmental pollution.

“In implementing K3, the main thing is human resources. It can be done by appointing K3 experts for training and participating in certification. The next thing is the tools that must be adequate,” said Elien.

The thing that must be done to meet K3 standards is mapping the identification of potential hazards by classifying them into five factors, namely physical (radiation, air), chemical (material, gas, liquid, vapor, dust), biological (bacteria, virus), ergonomics (position of work or position of equipment, application of manual handling), and psychosocial (stress, depression).

The event ended with a tour to see and review Building A and Building B FCS UB to check things that are lacking and need to be added or improved so that FCS UB meets K3 standards and is ready to face AQAS Cluster 2 and Cluster 3. [dts/msh/PR FCS]
