Several students of the Faculty of Cultural Studies (FCS) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) were officially released in an event held in the Hall of Building A FCS UB on Friday (10/18/2024). An atmosphere of emotion and pride enveloped the event, which began with the singing of the national anthem, Indonesia Raya, and was followed by the FCS Mars, which echoed throughout the room.
In his report, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Sahiruddin, Ph.D., revealed that FCS UB released 55 prospective graduates in this batch. Two students with outstanding academic achievements received special awards as the best graduates. Cindy Wijaya from the Study Programme of English Literature won the best title in Batch 7 with a GPA of 3.96, while Ismi Puspita Sari from the Study Programme of French Language and Literature became the best in Batch 8 with a GPA of 3.87.
Each Head of Study Programme carried out the Gordon draping procession as a graduation symbol, strengthening the graduates’ historical momentum.
On this occasion, the Dean of FCS UB, Hamamah, Ph.D., delivered directions to the graduates, who had come a long way in completing their studies. She appreciated the dedication and effort shown by each student.
“On behalf of the Faculty Board and the Faculty of Cultural Studies, I congratulate you all on your achievements,” she said.
Furthermore, Hamamah emphasized that graduation is not the end but the beginning of a new chapter full of responsibilities in work and society. She advised the graduates to always maintain the moral values instilled during their studies.
“Keep your honor, family, and alma maters in the community. Be a person of integrity and responsibility,” she added.
Cindy Wijaya, a representative of prospective graduates, also delivered a meaningful speech, telling her personal experience while studying at FCS UB. She noted how her time on campus changed not only the knowledge but also the character of each student.
“While studying at FCS UB, I increasingly understand that campus is a place for us to grow and develop, not just to study,” she said.
On this occasion, Cindy also expressed her deep gratitude for the support and guidance given by the lecturers, which was key to their success.
“On behalf of my friends, I would like to thank the lecturers. Hopefully, the knowledge given can be the best provision for our future,” she said.
The graduation ceremony then ended with a joint prayer, which was prayed for the success and success of the graduates.
