We often encounter information technology incidents, such as SMS asking credit, online loan offers, phishing and scams, etc. If we do wrong action, what happens next will be dangerous, our sensitive data account might be stolen. Other things that are prone to happen is taking over the phone’s command system, data retrieving on our private contact numbers through applications installed on the phone, that then will steal our private contact data and shared it with other parties.

To develop digital literacy for lecturers and education staff, the Faculty of Cultural Studies (FCS) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) initiated a Cyber Security Socialization event on Friday (2/2/2024), at the Hall B FCS UB. Several things can be done to keep digital security safe, including backing up data regularly, managing passwords, choosing secure websites, ensuring a fast internet connection, double-checking unknown links, being careful when downloading and installing software, being aware of digital footprints, and storing and sharing documents by making sure to choose the right type of sharing for the correct type of document.
