Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) Faculty of Cultural Studies (FCS) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) held a Recitation and Social Service event on Wednesday (4/13/2022) at 3 p.m. This activity is a routine agenda of DWP FCS UB which is held every Ramadan, but this event is the first after two years due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

The theme was ‘The Importance of Istighfar, Patience, and Gratitude in the Middle of the Corona Pandemic’. After two years, this event was conducted hybrid in Building A FCS UB and attended by the Dean, Deputy Deans, Head of Administration, DWP FCS members, and around 16 orphans. The event was also broadcast online through the Zoom Meetings platform, which was also attended by other members of the DWP FCS UB.

Wahyu Sri Widayati, as the host, opened the event. Followed by the reading of Quran recitations by Indra Yuniarti. Then, it was continued with reports and remarks. The Head of DWP FCS UB, Ismatul Khasanah, Ph.D. said that this recitation event was a form of collaboration between the Education Sector and the Socio-Cultural Sector of DWP FCS UB.

Hamamah, Ph.D., Dean of FCS UB, showed her gratitude to Ustadzah Umi Roudhouh and 16 orphans who were willing to attend this event.

“This event is one of the implementations of DWP’s duties at FCS, to connect the faculty with the general public. I hope that this event will run smoothly and its implementation will bring blessings and benefits to all,” said Hamamah, Ph.D.

After the speech, the event continued with giving gifts to the orphans who attended as a symbol of social service in this event.

Tausiyah (religious lecture) was delivered by Ustadzah Umi Rhoudhoh, a preacher and manager of TPQ Rhoudoh Kaliurang. In her tausiyah, she conveyed many messages, especially regarding patience, gratitude, and charity, according to the theme carried in this event.

Ustadzah Umi Rhoudhoh explained that patience is an attitude that must be possessed by every human being because being patient will bring many benefits. Various applications of patience include being patient when carrying out worship and staying away from religious prohibitions, as well as believing that in the distribution of sustenance everything has been regulated and adapted to the goodness and needs of every human being.

“In being patient must be followed by gratitude. As humans, we have to be good at being grateful and don’t be kufr for the blessings given, because being grateful will only add to the blessings given,” she explained.

One of the efforts to manifest patience and gratitude is to do alms or charity. Ustadzah Umi Rhoudhoh also appealed to increase alms, especially in the month of Ramadan, because many blessings can be obtained if you do alms.

The event was closed with a prayer which was also led by Ustadzah Umi Rhoudhoh. At around 4.15 p.m., the event was over. The recitation and social service of the DWP FCS UB event can be watched again through the humasfibub’s Youtube channel. [dts/msh/PR FCS]
