Faculty of Cultural Studies (FCS) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) has strategically partnered with Sun Life Indonesia to prepare students for the working world and entrepreneurship. Through the Sun Career & Entrepreneur Bootcamp program, this intensive training is designed to equip prospective graduates with relevant skills needed by the industry.
Dean of FCS UB, Hamamah, Ph.D., explained the importance of this program in supporting graduates to be better prepared to face the challenges of the working world and develop entrepreneurial potential.
“We are working with Sun Life to support FCS UB graduates in becoming more easily absorbed in the industry or developing entrepreneurship. As CSR, Sun Life will assist graduates and prospective graduates towards the working world,” she said.
In line with that, the Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Student Entrepreneurship of FCS UB, Dr. Aji Setyanto, M.Litt., highlighted criticism of universities that are considered to produce graduates who are not ready to work.
“Therefore, we try to collaborate with Sun Life to train prospective alumni so that FCS UB alumni have soft skills needed in work,” he explained.
He also added that this training provides theory and actual competence, which an official certificate from Sun Life can prove.
“The result of this event is our graduates who have legit competencies. The certificate will not be obtained so easily because there will be direct training and tests later in the assessment system,” Aji added.
Meanwhile, Sun Life Indonesia’s Agency Director, Dewi Utari, explained her company’s role in supporting this program. Program participants will receive intensive training for three months to equip themselves before entering the workforce.
“Today, we provide socialization to alumni or prospective graduates. Our goal is to help fresh graduates to be ready to enter the workforce,” she said on Thursday (21/11/2024).
“I hope that students can have a strong spirit and a broad perspective that they have to start working from now on. With the Sun Career & Entrepreneur Program, you will be guided to become graduates who excel and are ready to enter the working world,” Dewi added.
Dewi also emphasized the flexibility of FCS UB graduates to enter various fields of work.
“Various study programs in this faculty are very flexible to be able to enter various fields of work, and we only need to develop them by providing the right assistance,” Dewi said.
One of the program participants, Joseph Erandi, a Study Programme of English Literature student, said he was enthusiastic about this training.
“I hope this program can help my fellow FCS UB students. We will get to know better how to collaborate in the work environment, and it can make us graduates who are useful to the community,” he said. [trans.acl/ed.dts/PR FCS]
