SMK Negeri (State Vocational School) 2 Kraksaan visited the Faculty of Cultural Studies (FCS) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) on Wednesday (12/28/2022). This visit aimed to provide knowledge about the lectures and campus to class XII students of SMK Negeri 2 Kraksaan. About 50 students and seven teachers attended this event.
“Thank you for sparing your time to visit FCS UB. It is hoped that today’s meeting can be a good first step for further collaboration and further communication,” said Fredy Nugroho Setiawan, M.Hum., the Head of LBEKRAF, as a representative of FCS UB.
Loviga Deny, a teacher at SMK Negeri 2 Kraksaan also expressed his gratitude for receiving this visit.
“We are grateful for the warm welcome of FCS UB because we have been allowed to learn about lectures and information about enrolling UB, especially FCS UB,” he said.
“Even though we are from SMK Negeri 2 Kraksaan which is a technical-based school, many of our students are interested in language and literature. Furthermore, we can see from the extraordinary profile video, there are study programmes accredited with an A grade and have international accreditation,” he continued.
“Our students need the information on choosing a campus with accreditation like this, and what its advantages are for students in the future. FCS UB’s programmes are also very good,” he added.
After the opening which included remarks and group photos, the event continued with a discussion and questions and answers session.
One teacher revealed that around 70% of SMK Negeri 2 Kraksaan students work according to their field and 30% continue to higher education. Therefore, the teachers hope that this visit can motivate students to continue to higher education.
“So far, there are our students who have continued their studies in language, but no one has continued their studies at UB,” he said.
The questions that arise also vary, including those related to admission, learning, curriculum, and lectures, to professional certification related to LBEKRAF FCS UB. [dts/aaz/PR FCS]
