Faculty of Cultural Studies (FCS) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) held the 3rd Sabda Budaya Award and Cultural Oration in the 11th Anniversary (Dies Natalis) of FCS UB on Tuesday (11/10/2020). The event was held online via Zoom Meeting and YouTube Streaming and offline in the Hall of Building A FCS UB which was attended by the performers and committee.
The Sabda Budaya Award is an appreciation to the best cultural figures of East Java, who not only preserve the culture but also promote it. The artists and cultural observers were selected based on their influence and role in advancing their fields of work, including the publication of works, community development, and preservation of arts, literature, and culture in a sustainable period.
The three awardees are Prof. Dr. Abdul Hadi Widji Muthari for the category of Literature Art, Eko Edy Susanto in the category of Cultural Arts, and M. Sholeh Adi Pramono in the Creative Process Incentive category.
The event was perfected by a Malangan Mask Dance performance and a cultural oration by Prof. Dr. Abdul Hadi Widji Muthari.
“Dies Natalis not only commemorates the initial process of the establishment of FCS, but in essence, it presents thoughts, roles, and concrete actions today and in the future in the fields of education, research, and community service related to the fields of language, literature, and cultural arts,” said the Dean of FCS UB, Prof. Dr. Agus Suman S.E., DEA.
“The Sabda Budaya Award and Cultural Oration are expected to strengthen the existence of FCS UB at the local, regional, national, and international levels. FCS UB is also expected to strengthen the cultural identity of the Indonesian nation, as well as to build the cooperation and strengthen relationships with various parties, both public figures and institutions, and communities outside the campus,” he continued.
“Let us continue to work for cultural advancement for Indonesia,” he concluded.
UB Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. Nuhfil Hanani AR., Ms., also expressed his appreciation to FCS UB who has worked hard to carry out the 3rd time of the Cultural Word Award and Cultural Oration. This event has been held since 2018, on the 9th Anniversary of FCS UB, which is still running until this year.
“Hopefully, the Cultural Word Award and Cultural Oration will continue to be held in the following year,” he said.
