Maulfi Syaiful Rizal, M.Pd., the Head of the Study Program of Indonesian Language and Literature Education (SPILLE), Faculty of Cultural Studies (FCS) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) said that the Department of Languages Education of FCS UB is currently implementing Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM). UB runs this program to follow up and implement the MBKM program from the Ministry of Education and Culture. The eight activities in the MBKM program include (1) Student Exchange, (2) Internships/ Work Practices, (3) Teaching Assistants in the Education Units, (4) Research, (5) Humanitarian Projects, (6) Entrepreneurship, (7) Independent Studies/ Projects, and (8) Thematic Field Work.
In this even semester, the SPILLE FCS UB decided to implement Student Exchange activities with Universitas Tidar.
Student Exchange Activities have been started since Monday (2/22/2021) and are held online through the Zoom Meeting. This activity will end when the even semester is over according to the class schedule at each university.
Currently, there are 25 students from the SPILLE FCS UB, who study Semantics, Learning Media for Indonesian Language and Literature, Phonology, Literary Theory, and Educational Psychology at Universitas Tidar. On the other hand, there are 30 students of Universitas Tidar who study in the SPILLE FCS UB.

This is intended to implement other activities of the MBKM program, namely Teaching Assistance in Education Units, because in the 7th semester, there will be learning practices for junior or high school levels.
“Hopefully, this student exchange will be able to provide new learning experiences so that the students can increase their insight and knowledge. This activity will be our first step to continue improving Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi activities for the academic community of SPILLE FCS UB,” said Maulfi.
“I would like to thank the faculty leaders who always support and provide a briefing for the activities related to the MBKM Program. As well as the lecturers at the SPILLE who are always ready to support this activity,” he concluded. [DTS/MSH/PR FCS]
