One of the crucial stages is the Presentation of the Vision, Mission, and Work Program of the three dean candidates, which was held on Monday (4/14/2025) in the Hall of Building A FCS UB.

This event is an open space for the academic community of FCS UB to listen directly to the ideas, commitments, and policy directions of the prospective faculty leaders for the next five years.

In his report, Dr. Hipolitus K. Kewuel, M.Hum., as the Chair of the Dean Candidate Screening Committee, conveyed the achievements of the process that had been passed.

“Until today, we have completed five stages of the selection process, and today we are entering a crucial stage, namely the delivery of the vision and mission of the dean candidates,” he said.

He highlighted that FCS UB had made significant progress this year compared to 2022, which only had two qualified lecturers. 13 lecturers were declared qualified, consisting of eleven Head Lectors and two Professors. Only seven people passed from the administrative selection process that refers to the Rector’s Regulation. After going through the confirmation of willingness stage, three people willing to continue to the election stage were left.

The drawing of numbers was held on Thursday (4/10/2025) with the following numbers: Hamamah, S.Pd., M.Pd., Ph.D., for number 1, Dr. Aji Setyanto, S.S., M.Litt., for number 2, and Sahiruddin, S.S., M.A., Ph.D., for number 3.

She also shared that the UB Legal Bureau called this year’s selection a “star war” because of the extraordinary quality of the three candidates. However, according to her, what is more important is that the three of them remain united and committed to bringing FCS UB in a better direction.

Sesi Diskusi dan Tanya Jawab Ketiga Bakal Calon Dekan bersama Moderator

Discussion and Q&A Session of the Three Candidates for Dean with the Moderator

In the main session of the activity, the three prospective dean candidates conveyed their vision, mission, and work programs that were packaged in an inspiring and strategic manner. This activity was moderated by Maulfi Syaiful Rizal, M.Pd., who guided the presentation and discussion.

The three candidates emphasize strengthening collaboration-based institutional governance, improving academic quality and international reputation, developing human resources and a healthy academic atmosphere, and empowering an inclusive and humanist work culture.

The discussion and question and answer session became a space for reflection and clarification of the vision offered. The academic community seemed enthusiastic by asking critical yet constructive questions.

Although different in approach and delivery style, the entire vision and mission presented by the three candidates have the same common thread: to bring FCS UB to a better, more advanced, and more solid direction as a superior academic institution.

We hope that this democratic process will continue to run safely, comfortably, peacefully, and brotherly until the election stage on April 17, 2025. [dts/PR FCS]
