Le Championnat: A Competition to Hone Students’ Skills and Talents in French

The Study Programme of French Language and Literature (SPFLL) at the Faculty of Cultural Studies (FCS), Universitas Brawijaya (UB), held a competition to showcase skills and talents in French. As part of the Humanities Studies Competition (HSC), a major event by FCS UB, there were 10 competitions organised by each study programme. SPFLL participated by conducting a competition titled “Le Championnat.”

True to its name, “Le Championnat,” which means “Championship” in English, aimed to identify winners in each category. There were five categories: Solo Vocal, Poetry Reading, Storytelling, Food Vlogging, and Poster Design. The entire competition was conducted online, with registration and submission of works open from April 3rd to May 15th, 2024. The awards ceremony was held in a hybrid format on Thursday (30/5/2024).

Distinct from other HSC competitions, all categories in Le Championnat used an individual format, whereas many other HSC competitions featured group formats. Le Championnat was not exclusively for UB students; it was a national-level competition open to all students across Indonesia, allowing them to showcase their best work.

On the awards day, a total of 15 winners from the various categories of Le Championnat were celebrated. The hybrid awards ceremony saw some winners present on-site to receive their awards in person, alongside winners from other HSC competitions. For those unable to attend in person, online channels such as Zoom Meeting and YouTube live broadcast were used to facilitate their participation in the awards ceremony.
