To support sustainable community development, particularly in education, the Community Service team of the Faculty of Cultural Studies (FCS) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) demonstrated their commitment to the quality of education in Indonesia through activities aimed at increasing teacher professionalism.

Dr. Ive Emaliana, M.Pd, chaired the FCS Community Service Team. The members were Hamamah, Ph.D., Alies Poetri Lintangsari, M.Li., Pratnyawati Nuridi Suwarso, M.Li., and Wahyu Diny Sujannah, M.Pd. These lecturers are dedicated not only to their academic activities on campus but also to actively participate in improving the local community through programs that directly benefit the broader community.

The Community Service program entitled “Increasing Teacher Professionalism through Assistance in the Preparation of Teaching and Assessment Modules at Taruna Nusantara High School Magelang in the Implementation of the Independent Curriculum” was carried out for the teaching staff at Taruna Nusantara High School in Magelang.

Starting in 2023, specifically from May to August, Community Service activities would be planned and executed. The Community Service process began with an online needs analysis survey, followed by the design and development of both online and offline training. The online training included synchronous and asynchronous training with a total duration of 36 lesson hours.

This Community Service aimed to assist in preparing teaching modules that suit the characteristics and requirements of students, provided training and assessment practices for teachers, and furnished teachers at Taruna Nusantara High School, Magelang with a variety of interactive learning resources.

“Through our assistance in increasing teacher professionalism, which includes delivering materials and practical training on topics such as understanding the independent curriculum, Pancasila student profiles, learning and assessment principles, learning objectives and learning outcomes, learning methods and preparing teaching modules for 36 hours, we hope that the teacher professionalism at Taruna Nusantara High School can increase, and in the future, it will serve as an inspiration for teachers not only in Magelang but also in other cities across Central Java,” stated Ive Emaliana.
